Postcard:
"It's your turn, doctor" was written across this wall in the city of Daraa, Syria. The saying refers to the late Syrian dictator Bashar Al Assad, who trained as a doctor in England before succeeding his father.
This graffiti is referred to as the spark that started the Syrian revolution. Three middle school children wrote this in 2011. The kids were subsequently kidnapped by the regime and tortured to death. A month after they were kidnapped, the children's mutilated bodies were left on their parents' doorsteps.
Protests erupted in Daraa the following day. The protests lit up throughout Syria, and thus began the Syrian revolution.
Sticker:
This design is a celebration of Syrian freedom. The classic Syrian saya print takes the shape of the Syrian flag. By tying together our cultural art and themes of liberation, the Liberated Saya Map design showcases a united Syria.
